Capo, Infant CPR, 34 weeks...

Follow up to date night at Capo!
Capo is the real deal, definitely among the finer dinning experiences I've had in my life!
However, it will be reserved for VERY special occasions in the future.
(don't get me wrong, taking advantage of not having a bambino yet IS special, but not quite Capo Special)
Had to snap a shot of the $275 Russian Golden Beluga on the menu.
So despite the fact that I could have bought a piece of furniture for the price of our dinner, I have to say the food, service, environment and company all get an A+!
I wish I had pics of the food (but this is like a nice, no cell phones allowed kinda establishment), since I don't, here's a recap on the delicious food!
We started with fresh veggies and burrata and mushroom porcini soup (oh me, oh my)
Followed by a half order of their corn raviolis (the waiter said life changing and he wasn't kidding).
I ordered the Salmon Special which was grilled to perfection on this amazing stove they have.
(it was only $60, no biggie)
Shane ordered the Lobster Risotto, super rich but delish!
For dessert we had a blackberry crisp with their homemade vanilla ice cream.
Lastly, we received a complimentary plate of goodies from the pastry chef (hello, this could have been dessert).
A miniature array of cookies, chocolates and biscotti.
I couldn't eat another bite, but I didn't hesitate to ask for a doggie bag for the treats!
Ate them the next day and they were unbelievable.
My love and I waiting for valet!
My Target dress (not maternity and found in the juniors section) for under $20 was a BIG hit.
Would have just looked cheap and trashy if I weren't pregs, but for some reason a cotton tight striped dress looks rather cute with a belly (at least I think so).
Buy here.

We spent the rest of the weekend laying low.
Sunday was our Infant CPR class.
Teacher was great, here's his website.
So glad we took it, but could have watched a tutorial online and probably learned just as much.
Don't get me wrong, it's all VERY important and I appreciate the knowledge and ideas for emergency lists... but the actual infant CPR has been so simplified over the years.
In short, if victim is not responsive or breathing?
Begin chest compressions with two fingers.
These compressions are at the point on the breast bone, at the nipple line.
Do 30 pushes (1/3 of chest depth)
If no response, lift victims chin and give two easy breaths (breaths have been omitted for adults).
Continue to do this until victim responds or help arrives.
Glad Shane and I will be prepared in the event any little ones need us.
Hoping that will NEVER be the case!
Hard at work, practicing my technique.

Farmer's Market Find!

Every Sunday (that we are home), I look forward to going to the Brentwood Farmer's Market.
We walk around the country club to the get the heart rate going and blood pumping and then we head through the market picking up all our favorite produce and food for the week.
The vendors have become acquaintances and I enjoy seeing them all each week.
Sometimes there are new vendors with tasty goodies or creative ideas.
This past week, we stumbled upon
Reusable Snack Bags & Sandwich Wraps
It was a young couple working the booth with their adorable daughter (I'm sure the inspiration)!
The cute patterns caught my eye and made me stop to check them out.
The Sandwich Wraps turn into a place mat, can you say brilliant?

BEST PART: They are dishwasher safe!
Such a great gift, all my friends with kiddies, watch out, this is what's coming!

To the Dark Side and Beyond!

A while back I blogged about my new Blackberry, well I'm afraid, I've totally cheated on my BB with a NEW 4G iPhone.
And folks, I am completely hopelessly in L.O.V.E. with it.
Here are few apps that have me wanting more...
Shazam

No silly, it's not a super hero and that's not even it's logo, but I thought it was funny!
It's a music app that allows you to "Shazam" and find whatever song is playing.
All I have to say is I am such a tool burger that I was Shazaming up in da club last weekend in Vegas.
Ask me if I'm embarrassed?
NO and I have new workout music, whoop whoop!

Another fab app:
MyFitnessPal

Danger, danger... this thing has me entering everything that enters my mouth.
Not sure if that's good or bad quite yet?
And really wish that my number of calories for the day was like the picture above 2100, seriously? Must be for a guy...
Basically with this little appy, you enter your weight and your goal weight and track your calories and exercise and it tells you where to be at...
You can play with your friends and motivate each other.
It's pretty much brills.
HELLO SUMMER.

Currently don't have any other apps, so I'm taking suggestions for any apps or features you may love on your iPhone!

Celebs, little things around the house and needles?

=VERY needed weekend
It started out with dinner with Olga and Vince to celebrate her upcoming birthday at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica.  I pulled a Sam when choosing the restaurant, thought we had a www.livingsocial.com $40 (that I bought for $20), but it was for the Bungalow Club, oops. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Buffalo Club, but was super embarrassed when I busted out my coupy and it was for a different place.  Luckily I pulled it out and Vince noticed that it wasn't the right restaurant before giving it to the waiter.  Embarrassment averted, at least partially.
If you know Olga, you know she travels a great deal for work and tends to have star sightings in airports across the country, which she gives us updates on Facebook about.  Well Friday, we hit the jackpot in celeb sightings.  Started off with seeing Isla Fisher at a neighboring table, can you say flawless? Then I noticed that Isla was with Chelsey Handler (eweee, not a big fan, especially after our bathroom run in where she was a total B to Olga). In walks Lionel Richie, woohoo, now we've got a party! A little later into our meal a petite blonde turned around and who was it?  None other than Reese Witherspoon.  Stars don't generally excite me, but Lionel and Reese, had us all excited.

Here's my sneaky attempt at taking pics of Vince and Olga and capturing everyone else.

I had the best view of everyone "all night long"
Don't worry Olga definitely got us talking to Lionel who is SO down to earth and hasn't aged a bit.
His advice, never live for yesterday, always live in the present and look forward!
The BEST part of the evening was when the restaurant raised the volume of their ambient music and played "All Night Long," the house went crazy. Everyone threw there hands in the air and began to sing, including Reese who could not be cuter.  It was a great moment and I realize that you probably had to be there to feel the excitement, but whatever, I'm still giddy about it.  Happy Happy Early Birthday to OG!
 Little things around the house...
Saturday was dedicated to Spring cleaning (I know it's Winter), but we needed to go through our closets and re-organize some stuff.  We also did some handy work.  Hung up my new card holder that I picked up from Pottery Barn's holiday sale, and black out curtains in our guest bedroom. Getting ready for MIL's (mother-in-law) visit next weekend.  Felt good to be home and get things done.

Love, love, love our new and improved wall of friend fame!

Great item all year long for all the wedding invitations, birth announcements...

Needles...
So needles, yes needles, why needles?  Well, I am terrified of them, but that didn't stop me from going to try out acupuncture Saturday afternoon.  An alternative medicine doctor I'm seeing suggested I do it and I'm all about trying new things to promote better health naturally. It wasn't bad at all, I even found it enjoyable and booked a second pin cushion appointment next weekend.  Look forward to blogging about results a few weeks from now.
Saturday evening and Sunday proved to be productive, while nice and relaxing.  Movies, football, napping, homemade soup and breaky in bed for Shane.  It was a very nice weekend indeed.  I had to miss another good friend's wine tasting birthday weekend, which was very sad.  I know our girls showed her a great time though and was there in spirit.   And another friend's bday in Newport...  Finding balance isn't always fun and I've never been good at it, but I'm learning.  Happy Birthday to Katers and Megan!  Love you girls!
